What it actually does
The direction is in the name: NACS to J1772means from a NACS charging source to a J1772 car. One end sockets onto a Tesla-style connector; the other presents a J1772 plug to your car's port. The 80-amp rating and what it means
EVDANCE rates it to 80 amps at 250 volts— comfortably above any home circuit, which by code tops out at a 48-amp continuous draw. That headroom means the adapter is never the weak link: it can carry more current than a home charger will ever deliver. In real use you will see 40 amps or less, well within its rating. The adapter never adds speed; it simply avoids subtracting any. As a current-carrying part, fit is what matters most: the connector should seat firmly at both ends so the contacts stay tight under load. On safety, the standard to look for on any EV adapter is UL 2251; confirm the current listing on the live product page before you leave a car charging unattended on any adapter, and stop using it if it ever feels loose or runs unusually warm.
