Charging a GMC Hummer EV at Home
The Hummer EV has one of the biggest batteries on the road, which changes the home-charging math — here is what actually matters.

The GMC Hummer EV charges at home on any J1772 Level 2 charger with no adapter — but its enormous battery is the whole story. Even at a full 48 amps, a near-empty-to-full Level 2 charge takes the better part of a day, so a 48-amp unit is essential and DC fast charging is the real tool for a big refill.
The Hummer EV carries one of the largest packs on the market. That does not make home charging hard — you still plug in overnight and top up — but it does mean you should not under-size the charger.
What connector it uses
Through the 2026 model year the Hummer EV uses a J1772 AC inlet and a CCS1 DC port, so no adapter is needed at home. GM sells an approved NACS DC adapter to reach Tesla Superchargers; see the CCS vs NACS guide.
How fast it charges at home — the honest math
The onboard AC charger supports up to roughly 11.5 kW. On the Hummer's huge pack that still adds real range overnight, but a full charge from low is a many-hour affair — which is exactly why you want the full 48 amps, not a 32-amp unit. Most owners simply top up the miles they drove each day rather than charging empty-to-full. The charge-time guide shows how battery size drives the numbers.
The best home setup
A 48-amp charger is the right call — the best 48-amp chargers roundup ranks them, with the Emporia and ChargePoint Home Flex the usual picks. That means a 60-amp circuit; confirm your panel can supply it with the wire size and breaker guide. Plug-in units need a real NEMA 14-50 outlet.

Most people who want the smart features too
Emporia Level 2 (48A)
The smart charger that does not charge a smart-charger premium — 48-amp capability and real energy monitoring for the price of a dumb one.

Buyers who want the established brand and app
ChargePoint Home Flex
The polished, well-supported option — adjustable up to 50 amps and tied into the largest public charging app in North America.

The outlet a plug-in charger needs
Industrial NEMA 14-50 Outlet
The receptacle a plug-in charger actually plugs into — buy the industrial-grade, listed version, because the cheap ones are the part that fails.

We do not run a testing lab, and we do not pretend to. Where a measured number came from someone else's lab, we name them and link them. Where we could not verify something, we say so on the page rather than quietly leaving it out. Read our full method.
